Sinus Brady
- common complication of MI
- discontinue offending meds
- treat hypothermia, electrolyte imbalances
- if symptomatic, may require pacemaker
- can be complicated by torsades
Sick Sinus Syndrome
- most common indication for pacemaker placement
1st degree AV block
- prolonged PR interval (> 200 msec)
- can treat with atropine or dopamine
2nd degree AV block (Mobitz 1)
- gradually lengthening PR interval, followed by a dropped beat and resetting of the PR interval
2nd degree AV block (Mobitz 2)
- dropped beats without preceding PR interval prolongation
- frequently progresses to 3rd degree AV block
- requires pacemaker placement
3rd degree AV block
- complete heart block, atrial and ventricle rhythms no longer connected
- common complication of MI
- requires pacemaker placement
